"Wild About You", reviewed by Lance Monthly writer, Beverly Paterson.

Various Artists "Wild About You! A Tribute To The Australian Rock Underground 1963-1968" Unless you were there or you're an obsessive collector of the stuff, you probably don't know Australia produced hundreds of amazing bands during the sixties. In fact, the majority of these bands were as amazing as any of those fabled British Invasion folks. A well-conceived project, "Wild About You! A Tribute To The Australian Rock Underground 1963-1968" stars a slew of contemporary acts covering some of the coolest Australian songs of yore. The title track of the album, initially done by The Missing Links, is rendered with relentless gusto by Ian D. Marks. Another Missing Links number, the freaky, feedback-drenched "H' Tuom Tuhs" is attacked with serious aplomb by The Lucy Parsons Experience. Gushing onward with snarling, punk-infested inclinations, Pink Stainless Tail's version of The Tol-Puddle Martyrs' "Time Will Come" performs a faultless job of interpreting the reflective, socially conscious message nestled within the insistent beat. The Cants contribute a totally swinging take of Toni McCann's "Saturday Date" to the disc, as Digger and The Pussycats step in with a solid gold reading of The Purple Heart's pop rock classic, "Just A Little Bit." Often cited as the best cut The Rolling Stones never recorded, Peter and The Silhouettes' bold and brash "Claudette Jones" is given a nasty whipping via The Kamikaze Trio and The Double Agents salute The Black Diamonds accordingly on "I Want, Need, Love You." Not for easy listening fans, "Wild About You! A Tribute To The Australian Rock Underground 1963-1968" is stacked to the hilt with savage screamers. The guitars squeal, the rhythms roll and the drums crash and smash. Real deal garage rock it is. As icing on the cake, a 116 page book accompanies the record, featuring interviews with select members of the sixties bands. Tribute albums tend to get a bad rap, mainly because there's such a ridiculous overload of them, but this one serves to be a different animal altogether. www.3cr.org.au

May 2004

"Wild About You", a CD and book that pays tribute to "The Australian Rock Underground 1963-1968" is launched at The Tote Hotel in Collingwood, Victoria. The book, written by Iain McIntyre and Ian Marks, includes interviews with legendary Aussie Bands like The Purple Hearts and The Missing Links, not to mention Peter and The Silhouettes and The Tol-puddle Martyrs. The CD contains songs re-recorded by todays' garage bands. It features Peter and The Silhouettes "Claudette Jones as performed by The Kamikaze Trio and "Time Will Come" as performed by Pink Stainless Tail.

At the launch Peter was invited on stage to perform "Time Will Come" with Pink Stainless Tail. It was difficult to tell who was more excited, although The Tail's drummer Ziggy wrote to Peter saying "it was a very special moment for everyone in the band and we all agreed that this was the highest high-light in the 'PST-story' by far."
