The Secrets began performing original material during 1998 and one song in particular, a hymn to Aussie Rules, called "My Game", elicited an excellent reaction from the audience. Peter and Graham decided to record the song to try and tap itās commercial potential. It was quickly picked up by ABC Radio Station 3LO and used as the theme song for TripleJ presenter Francis Leach's football show "Time On". It was also picked up by Sirius publishing to use as the soundtrack to a Footy Card CD-Rom for the Essendon Football Club. The commercial possibilities of songwriting and advertising led to The Secrets setting up Secret Deals as a business. Another song was commissioned by Sirius Publishing called "Hail To The Champions" and was used for the Richmond Football Club's CD-Rom, much to Peter's delight. A series of thirty second station promos for Bendigo radio station TripleC FM led to the commissioning of a song for the Bendigo Football League called "BFL". A short version of this song was adapted by AAPT and used on radio and TV throughout regional Australia during the 2000 and 2001 footy season. |
